Catching the Moon is an inquiry into the pursuit of the ethereal. The vertical composition suggests a rising movement—a connection of the celestial to the terrestrial.
In this piece, the moon is not just a distant object, but a symbol of a moment of stillness captured amidst the movement of life. Through a meditative ritual of adding layers and then sanding them back, I reveal a "history" within the work. This process mirrors our own human experience: the building up of memories and the stripping away of the unnecessary to find the light that remains.
The raw, unframed edges of the canvas invite viewing the painting as a living artifact—a tactile exploration of where the dream world and the physical realm intersect. This image can also hang horizontally, changing the point of view and writing another story
